Smart home automation is a single control system that ties together the things a house already does, lighting, heating, ventilation, blinds, audio, door entry and alarm, so they respond to occupancy, time, temperature and daylight without anyone issuing an instruction. It is not a collection of individually clever gadgets that each need their own app and their own account.

## Inside a Loxone installation
The specification changes with the property, the phase of work and how far you want automation to reach. These are the parts of the system we most often design and install.

### Lighting and scene control
Lighting is wired back to central dimming and switching modules rather than to a switch on each wall, which is what makes scenes, multi-way control and later changes possible without new cabling. Switch drops become inputs to the system, so any switch can be reprogrammed to do anything.

Circadian and daylight-linked behaviour keeps output appropriate to the time of day: low-level, warm night lighting to a bathroom at 3am rather than full brightness, and daylight-sensing that stops perimeter lighting running on a bright afternoon.

### Heating, cooling and ventilation
Per-room temperature control uses room sensors and actuator control on the heating circuits, so bedrooms, living areas and bathrooms each run their own schedule and target. Underfloor heating, radiators and heat pump systems are all controllable, with the logic accounting for the slow response of a screed floor rather than cycling it like a radiator.

Ventilation and humidity control tie into the same logic, running extract on humidity rather than a timer, which is what actually protects bathrooms and utility rooms from persistent damp.

### Blinds, shading and glare
Motorised blinds and curtains are controlled by sun position, outside temperature and internal demand. In summer, shading closes on the elevation taking direct sun to reduce heat gain before the room overheats; in winter the same logic opens it to take free solar gain.

### Wired, air and hybrid installations
